cHARGE YOUR PHONE

ROLE | SOLO PROJECT     DURATION | 3 WEEKS    TOOLS USED | UNITY, C#

Charger Your Phone is a Turn Base Strategy Card Game. In this game, the avatar uses cards to connect the charge and phones. Thus use the phone can complete various tasks in different scenarios.

I was the sole developer on this project, and it was built in a 3-week period under the constraint of making a “Mundane" game.

GAME CONCEPT

The "Mundane" game is to make a game based on a very common activity in everyday life. The first thing that come to my mind is that basically everyone needs to charge their phones every day, and when we use our phones to work or entertain, they quickly run out of power again, so people have to charge the phone again and again. I think this can turn into a game loop. Based on this concept, I add some randomness and strategy to the act of connecting wires and phones to make this usual activity become interesting.

GAME mechanic

charge the phone

When players enter a level, they will see a phone that is constantly receiving tasks on the left side of the screen and a Cable Map on the right side of the screen. In the cable map, the black square is the head of the cable, the red square is the cable destination, and the text “POWER + 20%” means there are 20 power that store in the current cable, once the cable reaches the cable destination, those 20 powers will be charge into the phone at the left.

Each turn the player will have six random "wire cards" in his hand. When the player cursor moves to the card, the player can get a preview of the cable moving according to the corresponding pattern on the pie. A green preview means the player can use the card. A red preview means that the pattern on the card will make the cable move outside the map so it cannot be used. The yellow preview means that after using this card cable can reach the cable destination, and then charge up the phone
